Women told to rally behind CPP

Mr Albert Atutiga, Northern Regional Chairman of the Convention People's Party (CPP), on Thursday appealed to women leaders in the party to adopt "household method'' of convincing other women to rally behind CPP to win power in 2004.

"Use the methods you adopt in managing your homes to maintain unity and understanding to win more people for the party to kick NPP out of power come 2004", Mr Atutiga said this when he addressed women leadership of the Gukpegu/Sabongida constituency in Tamale.

He said women had been suppressed for a very long time in the political arena and that time has come for them to show the difference. Mr Atutiga advised the women to be mindful of people who talk "evil" of the CPP to score political points and said the party was organizing congress next month.

He called for peace, unity and understanding within the rank and file of the party.

Mrs Hawa Alhassan, the constituency Women's Organiser, gave the assurance that the leadership in Tamale would move to the remote areas of Dagbon to convince women and their husbands to become permanent disciples of the CPP.

She said the country was facing economic hardship and that if CPP came back to power the party would re-introduce the good policies of Dr Kwame Nkrumah for the betterment of Ghanaians.
