According to him, women, since creation, had been blessed with the grace of being strongholds of peace and unity, adding that they could not be called upon to play their roles at a better time than now.

He said the role of women as pillars of peace began from the family level where they were able to manage the several adversities that occurred.

“They have a direct influence on the actions and inaction of their husbands, determine what length their children could go,” he stressed.

Reverend Sovor said this in an interview with the Daily Graphic on the sidelines of a rally of the Ho Presbytery Women’s Ministry of the church in Ho, which was on the theme: “Let Thy Will Be Done”.

He said women were naturally blessed with a multiplicity of talents but societal barriers had restrained them from harnessing those talents, saying a new era had dawned where women must be given the needed motivation to fully realise their potential.

In anticipation of the ruling of the Supreme Court, he said, the calls for peace should involve a conscious engagement of the talents of women as pillars of peace because “any negative activity would primarily involve men and the youth”, adding that wives and mothers had a role in engaging husbands and the young to refrain from acts that would disturb the peace of the country.

In her sermon, the National Co-ordinator of the Women’s Ministries of the GEC, Madam Edith Adoblosu Kuhlor, recounted that Christ, during his mission on earth, always prayed for the will of the father to be done because that was the essence of his coming into the world.

She entreated that in doing the will of God, there were bound to be challenges and a lot of difficulties but gave a reminder that the blessings that followed were manifold.

The Chairman of the Ho Presbytery of the church, Rev. Ashigbui, exhorted them to grow with what they had learnt from spiritual children to matured Christian adults.

This, he said, would ensure that they were situated on a solid foundation that would not cause them to be blown in any direction by the winds of life’s adversities.

Prayers were said for mutual peace and understanding to prevail in the aftermath of the Supreme Court ruling for the development process of the country to remain intact for the common good of all Ghanaians.
