Vlisco, Namandla celebrate Mothers with “Thank You Mum” campaign
Textile Manufacturer Vlisco in partnership with Namandla Communications has recognised and celebrated Madam Elizabeth Yaa Asantewaa for her efforts in raising two daughters as a single mother.
Madam Elizabeth emerged the winner of a social media campaign dubbed: "Thank You Mum" after her daughter, Lilliana Owusu-Akyem's essay was selected out of several individual stories of the extraordinary role mothers play in the lives of their families.
The campaign was opened to children to express their deep gratitude to their mothers and to highlight key aspects of their personality that warrants them the overall prize.
In observance of Mother’s Day last Sunday, Madam Elizabeth and her daughter were given a spa session and a dedicated photo shoot moment with the 2018 Vlisco Brand Ambassador.
In addition, Madam Elizabeth’s remaining loan balance with Bayport Financial Services which she took to cater for her daughter’s education was also cancelled.

Commenting on the "Thank You Mum" campaign, Mr Stephen Badu, the Marketing Director for Vlisco Ghana, said Madam Elizabeth represents one of the thousands of mothers who are breaking their backs for their children and families and the honour was just an opportunity for Vlisco to show their appreciation and pay tribute for the social, economic, cultural roles mothers play in the lives of families.
He said Vlisco takes pride in the sacrifices and efforts made by mothers and that the event was just a small way to celebrate mothers for their many sacrifices.
Unveil Vlisco’s collection
The event was also used to unveil Vlisco's latest seasonal collection by fashion designer Rysen.
The collection labeled "Rysen for Vlisco Capsule Collection” follows similar collaboration with other renowned designers over the last two years.
According to Maryse Koutouan, the designer for the latest collection, being a fashion designer was her lifelong dream and this translates into the passion and dedication she applies to her work.
She said her designs are unique and innovative because she adopts a strategy of fitting the personality of her clients with a suitable fabric that is matching their expectation.
Ms Koutouan believes that although there are specific dresses or specific styles for each occasion, fashion has evolved over the time and people now wear what they believe is fashionable and trendy at a particular time.
This, she said, is a natural phenomena in the industry, hence there is no defined limits to what a designer can accomplish particularly with quality fabrics like Vlisco.
