Turkish NGO donates to Ahlussunna Wal-Jama’a

IGMG Social Relief Organisation, a non-governmental organisation (NGO) based in Turkey, last Tuesday donated 700 bags of assorted food items to the Ahlussunna Wal-Jama’a, an Islamic sect in the country.

The items, valued at €30,000, are to be distributed to Muslims in the Greater Accra, Eastern, and Northern regions to enable them to have a fitting Ramadan celebrations.

The donation was made through the International Unique Human Welfare Institution in Ghana. Each bag contained rice, spaghetti, sugar, Indomie noodles, can tomatoes and canned fish, among others.

The Director of IGMG, Mr Kemal Sagdic, said the organisation was established in October 2010 based on the Islamic principle that "The best human is the one who is most useful to others."

“Our main goal is to deliver the charitable donations to the needy around the world, irrespective of their religion, language and ethnicity.”

Apart from giving out relief items, Mr Sagdic said, the organisation was currently taking care of 300 orphans and had, since last year, constructed 71 bore holes in some communities in the country.

Receiving the items, the General Secretary of the Ahlussunna Wal-Jama’a,  Alhaji Yacoub Shuaib Abban, thanked the organisation for the items, adding that the donation would not be used for the benefit of Muslims alone but everybody who was in need, regardless of his or her religious affiliation or ethnic background.

He urged Muslims to use the Ramadan period to renew their commitment to their creator and pray for peace and unity in the country.
