A 37-year-old private security guard is in the grip of the police for allegedly sodomizing a 13-year-old boy at Nyohini, a Tamale suburb.
John Issahaku Adam who is said to have forced the boy for the act is currently in the custody of the Tamale police.
The Northern Regional Coordinator of the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) of the Police, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Mr. Emmanuel Holortu told Graphic Online investigations were still on-going.
He said the suspect was arrested by his siblings, handed over to the uncle of the victim who in turn handed him over to the police.
The victim told the police that the incident happened on Wednesday, May 9, 2018 and the case was reported to the police the following day.
The victim has since been treated and discharged.
According to DSP Holortu, the victim told the police that he was sent to go and buy something for the suspect and when he returned, the suspect asked him to pick his mobile phone from his room for him.
When he entered the room, the suspect allegedly pounced on him, removed his clothes and sodomised him.
The police said after the act, the suspect threatened the victim not to tell anyone and that if he did inform anybody, he was going to post his photographs on his school compound for everybody to know that he engages in such acts.
DSP Holortu said the following day, May 10, 2018, the suspect saw the victim passing and pursued him for sex but the victim took to his heels and informed his mother about what had happened the previous day.
This led to the arrest of the suspect.
The police officer said the suspect told the police that he only invited the victim to his room and together they watched a movie and denied having any sexual intercourse with him.
