Support national efforts to combat COVID-19 - Neenyi Ghartey VII

The Effutu Traditional Council has called on all Ghanaians and stakeholders to support national efforts towards combating the spread of the coronavirus pandemic in the country.

This move, according to the council, would enable the country to win the fight against the pandemic which had so far claimed five lives and affected 205 individuals.

According to the council, the directives announced by government must be rigorously followed by all without any hesitation to help control the spread of the global pandemic which had affected hundreds of thousands of people across the world.

A release signed by the President of the Council, Neenyi Ghartey VII, stating the council’s position on the COVID-19 pandemic, he called on all Ghanaians to put their shoulders to the wheel to deal with the virus

The statement noted that the COVID-19 outbreak and the increasing cases of infection globally is worthy of consideration since the deadly virus is destructive to the society and Ghana as a whole.

It read further that “at this moment, it is prudent to join hands with the government in the fight against the deadly pandemic”, and added that the council would communicate further when the current crisis is calmed and Ghana is no longer at risk.

Report suspected cases

The council further entreated persons with suspected symptoms of COVID-19 to rush to nearest health facilities or call immediately to receive emergency health care, and further admonished everyone to cooperate to stop COVID-19 from further spreading across the country.

Additionally, it called on Ghanaians to strictly adhere to the principle of social distancing and other hygiene protocols that are intended to protect and save the lives of the citizenry.

Touching on whether this year’s Aboakyer festival will be celebrated, he indicated that the world acclaimed festival is on hold due to the COVID-19 since the council at this material moment valued the lives of the people within the traditional area.

He noted “when the crisis is calmed and sorted out by the government and the nation is no longer at risk, we will communicate further”.
