Statistical Service receives laptops for gender-related statistical data

The Gender Responsive Skills and Community Development Project (GRSCDP) has presented five laptops to the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) to assist the institution in developing gender-related statistical data for development planning, monitoring and evaluation.
The project, which is under the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection (MoGCSP), has already trained 10 members of staff of the GSS in gender mainstreaming.

The project, being implemented by the Department of Gender, with support from the African Development Bank (AfDB), is a four-year gender mainstreaming project which aims at promoting gender equitable socio-economic development through institutional capacity building and improvement of women’s gainful employment and entrepreneurship.

Under the first component of the project, the GRSCDP aims at supporting the capacity building of the GSS in the production and analysis of gender-related statistics and, therefore, trained 10 regional directors of the GSS in web-based monitoring and evaluation framework developed by the GRSCDP.

The laptops were received by the Deputy Government Statistician, Mr Baah Wadieh, on behalf of the Government Statistician.

In his remarks, Mr Wadieh expressed his appreciation to the AfDB for the intervention.

He stated that the laptops would be put to good use.

The acting Project Manager of the GRSCDP, Mrs Catherine Bob-Milliar, who presented the laptops, appealed to the GSS to take good care of the computers so as to enhance the organisation’s capacity in generating gender related statistics for development.
