Sierra Leone understudies Ghana’s student loan administration
A delegation from Sierra Leone is currently in Accra to understudy the processes of student loan administration, managed by the Students Loan Trust Fund (SLTF), with the view to establishing a similar back home
During the team’s two-week stay, it would be learning about the institutional setup, legal framework, business processes, financing model and the coverage of the Trust Fund. It would also be visiting partner institutions of the SLTF.
A release issued in Accra at the weekend said: “The five-member team is made up of the Deputy Minister Technical and Higher Education, Turad Senesie; the Deputy Director General of the state pension organisation, Mr Mohammed Gondoe; a Senior Budget Management Officer, Mr Osman Alpha Kamara, and the acting Director Fiscal Risk Management at the Ministry of Finance, Dr Alhassan Mansaray.
It said during a courtesy call at the Ministry of Education, the group was given a historical overview of tertiary education financing in Ghana by the Minister of State, Tertiary Education, Professor Kwesi Yankah.
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the SLTF, Nana Kwaku Agyei Yeboah, said the Trust Fund was happy to open its doors and share its experiences with Sierra Leone.
He called for greater collaboration and experience sharing among institutions in the sub-region.
