Prez Mahama joins Muslims to thank Allah

President Mahama responding to cheers on his arrival at Kasoa.Residents of Kasoa in the Central Region yesterday gave President John Dramani Mahama a warm reception when he joined Muslims in the area to pray and thank God for guiding the country peacefully through the presidential election petition.
The people, who lined the main Mallam-Kasoa road up to the main street in the town, waved white handkerchiefs to signify the President’s victory in the case and cheered him on, virtually mobbing his convoy.

President Mahama and his team joined the Muslims for prayer and thanksgiving at the Kasoa Central Mosque.

Led by the Chief Imam of the Kasoa Municipal Assembly, Alhaji Osaman Abdullahi, the whole of the Holy Qur'an was recited, while a white cow was slaughtered to thank God for blessing the country with peace during and after the petition.

In his sermon, Alhaji Abdullahi said President Mahama’s victory in Election 2012 and its subsequent validation by the Supreme Court were the handiwork of God.

He said it was God who installed kings and, therefore, it was God who had given the mantle of leadership to President Mahama.

The Imam, therefore, urged all Muslims and the rest of Ghanaians to pray for the President and support him to administer the affairs of the state by working hard.

He prayed to God to continue to shower his blessings on the country.

In his remarks, President Mahama said God had blessed Ghana because other countries would have resorted to arms to settle an electoral dispute, adding that if God had showered that kind of blessing on Ghana and also given the country peace, it was important to show gratitude to Him.

The President thanked all Ghanaians for their patience throughout the eight months that the court heard the petition.

He underscored the need for all to put the issue behind them and work together to build the nation.

He prayed to God to bless him and his team with wisdom and the heart to govern the country to bring prosperity to all Ghanaians.

The chiefs of Kasoa also hosted President Mahama at the palace of the Odikro of the town, Nai Seidu Yusif II.

The Chairman of the Council of Tribal Chiefs in the Awutu Senya East Municipality, Alhaji Hussein Kumbo, who spoke on behalf of the other chiefs, congratulated President Mahama on his double victory.
