President Akufo-Addo leaves for Nigeria

The President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, left Ghana for Nigeria, on Wednesday (February 14, 2018) at the invitation of the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Sokoto, Most Reverend Dr Matthew Hassan Kukah, to attend a two-day International Conference on Transformative Governance in Africa.
Akufo-Addo's departure was confirmed in a statement signed by the Director of Communications at the Office of the President, Eugene Arhin.
 
The statement said the President Akufo-Addo will deliver the keynote address at the Conference, on the theme, “How to make Democracy work for Africa.”
 
The President will return to Ghana on Thursday, 15th February, 2018, and in his absence, the Vice President, Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, shall, in accordance with Article 60(8) of the Constitution, act in his stead.
