Police lift ban on demonstrations

DSP Cephas Arthur, Police PROThe Police administration has lifted the ban it placed on all special public events and demonstrations during the hearing of the election petition.
The ban was placed on all demonstrations and special public events because the police said it lacked personnel to man such events.

Speaking to Citi News,the Director of Police Public Affairs, DSP Cephas Arthur however said the Police was now ready to give adequate protection to all demonstrators.

“We are now in the position to police any special event that they might want to hold," said DSP Arthur.

He further urged the public to adhere to the "public order Act 941 which stipulates that all such intentions should be communicated to the Police at least five clear days before the date of the event.”
