Old students hand over ICT centre to Kyekyewere community
Old students of various schools who completed school in 1985 in the Kyekyewere community in the Afigya Kwabre North District in the Ashanti Region have handed over an Information and Communications Technology (ICT) centre to the community.
The facility, equipped with 30 computers at a cost of GH¢100,000, is aimed at enhancing the teaching and learning of ICT in all schools in the community as well as help teachers in the area to conduct research for their lessons.
The beneficiary schools are the Afigyaman Senior High School and eight basic schools in the Kyekyewere community.
The Chairman of the year group of old students, Mr Isaac Opoku, said the presentation was a way of giving back to the community which helped in their upbringing and training to become what they were now.
He appealed to the youth of the area to remain focused and not allow anything to divert their attention from their studies and training, which would go a long way to make them economically empowered after their education.

The Afigya Kwabre North District Chief Executive (DCE), Mr Karikari Acheamfour, was full of praise for the 1985 school leavers for the support which had come to complement the government’s effort at providing schools with the right teaching and learning materials to support the effective teaching and learning of ICT in schools.
He assured the people of the government’s readiness to continue providing the needed infrastructure and other needs for schools to promote teaching and learning in schools in the district and the rest of the country.
He assured the people of plans by the government to improve on the roads in the area which were in a very deplorable state.
The Chief of Kyekyewere, Nana Kutin Safia II, said the development of the community demanded the support of all stakeholders and commended the 1985 year group for the support towards the development of education in the area.
He added his voice to calls for the improvement of roads in the area which were in bad shape, and therefore, making life difficult for the people since most of them were farmers who had to go to their farms in vehicles, as well as transport their foodstuffs by road.
