Consequently, it has organised an entrepreneurial contest to unearth student’s talents to help set them up in business.

Established in 2,000, Enactus Ghana has empowered 17,000 tertiary students to set up their own businesses in agricultural, food production, Information Technology, trading and beads production.

EG aims at improving the quality of life of students and the needy and has developed student’s capacity in presentation skills, confidence and peer educators to empower the needy in society to develop their potentials and set up their own businesses.

The 13th entrepreneurship contest attracted 14 tertiary institutions from  the University of Cape Coast, University College of Management Studies, University of Ghana, Sunyani Polytechnic, Accra Polytechnic, Ho Polytechnic, University of Professional Studies, Accra, Presbyterian University College, Pentecost University College, Catholic University College, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Radford University and the Koforidua Polytechnic.

The contest was on the theme: “Graduate Unemployment: the role of the young social entrepreneur.”

Each of the students was given a topic on entrepreneurial skills development and undertook a community project education to transform lives of people who have the potential but found it difficult to exhibit their talents.

The winner of the community educational project is expected to participate in a competition in Mexico and to also receive international sponsorship to support his or her future project in Ghana.

The Country Director of EG, Mrs Evelyn Aditsey, urged students to seize the opportunity around them and create their own jobs by participating in seminars and workshops to broaden their knowledge.
