Minister of Communications to be made Nkosuohemaa

TheMinister of Communications and Member of Parliament (MP) for Ablekuma West, Mrs Ursula Owusu Ekuful, will be enstooled as Nkosuohemaa (Development Queen) of Akyem Asuom in the Kwaebibirem Municipality in the Eastern Region on Saturday, September 29, 2018.

The enstoolment ceremony is expected to attract well-wishers, including dignitaries and chiefs from across the country, to Akyem Asuom.

Mrs Ekuful is being honoured for her hard work and cordial relation.

Traditional rituals

According to the Chief of Asuom, Osabarima Ofosuhene Apenteng II, the first part of the enstoolment ceremony would entail performances of traditional rituals that would start early in the morning by 9 a.m. at the Asuom Palace.

He said at 2 p.m. the same day, the Nkosuohemaa would be introduced to the chiefs and people of Asuom at the Asuom funeral grounds where her stool name would be announced.

Over 100 public figures and traditional leaders will join the chiefs and people of Asuom to confer the title of Nkosuohemaa on Mrs Owusu-Ekuful, who incidentally is an Akyem from Akyem Oda in the Akyem Kotoku Traditional Area, also in the Eastern Region.

Dignitaries

Some of the dignitaries expected to grace the occasion are Mr Carlos Kingsley Ahenkorah, the Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry and MP for Tema West and a native of Asuom; Mr George Nenyi Andah, the Deputy Minister of Communications; Mr Vincent Odotei-Sowah, the Deputy Minister of Communications; Mr Joe Anokye, the Managing Director of the National Communications Authority (NCA), and Mr James Kwofie, the Managing Director of Ghana Post.

 Others are Mr Kwasi Amoako-Attah, the Minister of Roads and Highways; Mr Kwabena Ohemeng-Tinyase, the MP for Kade; Mr Antwi Boasiako, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Kade, and Nana Akua Asantewaa, the Queenmother of the Akyem Kotoku Traditional Area, among others.
