The service was on the theme, “I am an example of Christ in my generation” and was based on the Biblical passage taken from 1 Chronicle 4 : 16 -17.

The Winneba Area Head of the church, Apostle Professor Peter Ohene Kyei, said God had given Christians the power to pray and overcome all obstacles confronting them.

He urged Christians, therefore, to desist from the practice of going to charlatans purporting to have solutions to their problems.

He said doors would readily open before them if they prayed to God.

Call for support

Apostle Kyei called on the membership of the Church of Pentecost to support the church to grow to enable it to achieve its mission and vision.

On behalf of the Church of Pentecost in Mankessim, the Area Secretary and Deacon of the church, Reverend Joseph N. Garimah, and Elder Enoch Owusu said the church would give its fullest support to Pastor Ofori to make his time in office a success.

Mrs Ellen Mary Nana Ofori, the wife of the new Area Head of the Church of Pentecost in Mankessim, thanked the congregation for their warm reception and kindness.

In his maiden speech to the church, Pastor Ofori commended the pastors and officers of the church for their hard work and expressed the hope that such fine attributes would be sustained during his tenure.

Present at the function were a former General Secretary of the Church of Pentecost, Apostle Albert Amoah; the Cape Coast Area Head of the church, Apostle A. A Mensah (retd); the Head Apostle, David Terkper, Pastor D. D. Acquah(retd) and the Sunyani Estate District Pastor, Rev. William Ofori Attah.

Ajumako

In another development, the Church of Pentecost in Mankessim organised a five-day lay leadership school at Ajumako.

One thousand and five hundred officers of the church drawn from the area attended the programme, which was on the theme, “I am an example of Christ in my generation”.

The school had the purpose of equiping the participants with skills to enhance their personal growth and activities in the ministry of God.

Topics discussed included, The Doctrine of Christ, Leadership Integrity, Entrepreneurship and contemporary issues.
