Mahama rescues AMA, orders repayment of debt

President John Dramani Mahama has come to the rescue of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly whose property is being auctioned to defray a $6,575,928.52 debt owed City and Country Waste Limited, Accra-based Joy FM has reported.

The official residence of the Chief Executive of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly, Mr. Alfred Oko Vanderpuije was auctioned Thursday for 850,000 Ghana cedis , while three other properties of the assembly were auctioned for a total of 2,255,000 Ghana cedis to defray the debt.

The auction was ordered by the High Court, and conducted by Vans Mart Auctioneers.

According to the report, the sale will not stand following the President’s intervention.
