JHS student burnt to death in Ho

A 15-year-old pupil of the Ho Bankoe E.P. Junior High School met his untimely death when fire gutted the room in which he was sleeping at Anlokordzi, a suburb of Ho, last Thursday night.

The deceased, Braimah Yakubu, who was studying with the aid of candle light, is believed to have fallen asleep in the course of his studies and the candle fell and ignited combustible materials in the room.

The Ho Municipal Police Commander, Superintendent of Police Mr Nicholas Opare Ofosuhene, told the Daily Graphic that the deceased lived in the room with his father, Issifu Yakubu, a night watchman.

According to him, after the man had left for work, the deceased lit a candle with which he studied, since the lights had gone off at that time in the Ho municipality.

Mr Ofosuhene said about 10 p.m., a neighbour saw smoke coming from the room where the deceased was and raised an alarm.

According to the Ho Municipal Fire Officer, Mr Joy Agbleze, it was after the Fire Service had successfully put out the fire that the charred body of the deceased was found.
