I will treat crime as crime – Martin Amidu.

The Special Prosecutor, Mr Martin Amidu, has reiterated his commitment to discharge his duties without fear or favour.

In his acceptance speech following his swearing in as the country’s first Special Prosecutor by President Nana Akufo-Addo at the Flagstaff House on Friday, Mr Amidu noted that he would discharge his duties with integrity and honour.

“Once a suspected offender is establishing by investigation to have committed offences prosecutable in the national interest I will treat crime as crime and nothing else”, he said.

He further noted that propaganda would not stop him from pursuing corrupt officials.

“I wish to assure you that the propaganda about witch-hunting will not dampen me,” Mr Amidu said.

He further assured Ghanaian that, he would do his best to justify the trust put in him.

He also made it clear to the public that, nobody has served him personally with any court writ to restrain him from accepting this appointment.

“I wish the public to know that nobody has served me personally with any writ to challenge my approval so as to restrain me from accepting this,” he noted.
