There were sporadic gunshots in Yunyoo in the Bunkpurugu-Yunyoo District in the Northern Region Wedmesday mording over disagreements on the proposed siting of the new district to be created out of the existing Bunkpurugu-Yunyoo District.

The skirmishes happened around 4am.

Graphic Online has gathered that while some are in favour of the new district capital being at Yunyoo, others think it should be at Namongo, said to be the hometown of the Northern Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Daniel Bugri Naabu.

Some security operatives confirmed the sporadic shooting to Graphic Online and said even though no casualty was recorded, tension is still high in Yunyoo town.

The Konkomba clan in the Bunkprugu-Yunyoo district about two months ago at a press conference at Temaa appealed to the government to site the capital of the newly proposed district on any Konkomba land in the area to help accelerate development in the Kokomba communities.

Meanwhile security is yet to be beefed up at Yunyoo.
