Manso Datano raises GH¢19,000 from community harvest

An amount of GH¢19,000 was realised at a community fund-raising harvest at Manso Datano in the Amansie South District of the Ashanti Region to undertake development projects in the town.

Organised by the Unit Committee and the Local Council of Churches, the harvest was attended by hundreds of the community members.

The proceeds would go into projects, including the construction of a modern market and a lorry park .

Face-lift

Speaking at the function, the assembly member for Manso Datano Electoral Area, Mr Kwame Amponsah, said the community was determined to support the assembly and the government to give the town a facelift.

He said it was clear that the government alone could not afford all the development needs of the community because of the pressure on the national budget.

It was, therefore, incumbent on the people to mobilise resources locally to complement the efforts of the government in advancing the development of the town.

Commendation

Mr Amponsah commended the government for adding another school in the community to the School Feeding Programme which he said had helped in increasing school enrolment.

He also thanked the Amansie South District Assembly for providing funds for the completion of a four classroom school block, an office and a store initiated by the community.

Unity

The Unit Committee Chairman, Mr Prince Appiah-Kubi, in his remarks called for unity among the people for the rapid development of the town.

He also called on the community members to rekindle their communal spirit to enable them to undertake more development projects.

Mr Appiah-Kubi further urged Datano citizens, both home and abroad to support community projects.

The Chairman of the Local Council of Churches, Pastor Ofori Agyemang, thanked the community members for their support in the fund-raising harvest and urged them to keep it up.

He said the council had set aside a day in every month for fasting and prayers for the total development of the town.

The Gyasehene of Manso Datano, Nana Kwame Boateng, chaired the function.
