Ghana's Elsie Appau - Klu to receive African Achievers Awards
The Regional Representative of Acreaty Management Plc, a human resource firm in Ghana, Mrs Elsie Appau - Klu has been named as a winner of this year’s ‘’African Achievers Awards’’ to be held in the United Kingdom.
Mrs Appau-Klu who is also a special guest speaker at the event to be held on Thursday, July 5 2018 will pick an award under the ‘Enterprise Category’’.Follow @Graphicgh
This year’s event is under the theme “Girls Child Right to Education: A case for Africa (2) “.
The African Achievers Awards has consistently honoured great African achievers from African Leaders, Young Achievers, and Community Builders to Captains of Industries across the continent.
The awards ceremony has fast become established as one of the biggest gatherings of influential and global African Achievers on the continent.
A letter signed by Chairperson of AAA International Lectures & Honours 2018, Susan Fajana- Thomas said the African Achievers Awards, is presented to African’s making a difference on the continent.
She added that the stories of awardees will be projected to the Globe during the event.
Elsie Appau-Klu who is also a lawyer advocates for the rights of women and girls to education.
She has also supported many initiatives to promote gender rights in the sector of Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), Education and Agriculture.
She currently champions Young people assess to employment under the project ‘Beyond Academics’ where young people are challenged to think beyond the box and apply practical skills to learning and academic work.
Through this programme, Ms Appau provides the opportunity for hundreds of young people to mentor and oriented for internships every summer.
Mrs Appau-Klu worked with and consulted for several international organizations and agencies including the United Nations, Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, the World Bank among others.
Speaking to Graphic online on the achievement, Ms Appau said she is humbled be the recognition and challenged to do more.
Some of the notable Individuals, and organizations who have been honored at the Awards Ceremony are Arch. Bishop Desmond Tutu, Late Prof Attah Mills (former President of Ghana), Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma (Former African Union Chairperson), Mr Jakaya Kikwete (former President of the Republic of Tanzania), Dr Josephine Ojiambo (Deputy Secretary-General of Commonwealth), and Divine Ndikhuluka ( Former Chairperson Zimbabwe Chambers of Commerce), Bill and Melinda Gate Foundation, SABC South Africa, Kofi Annan Foundation and The African Development Bank (AFDB) among others.
