Ghana registering Burkinabe refugees in Sissala East

Security personnel are registering Burkina Faso nationals who have pitched camps in two communities in the Sissala East Municipality in the Upper West Region as refugees.

The two communities are Bank and Pido.

According to the Municipal Police Commander, DSP Mr Stephen Abanga, as at now they have registered 115 adults, mainly males and 140 children who claimed to have fled Leo in Burkina Faso to seek greener pastures and farm in Ghana.

He said, since their arrival in the two communities over the weekend the refugees are living under humanitarian aid from the various communities and NADMO.

Mr Abanga said, they are now forwarding their relevant records to the Upper West Regional Coordinating Council for onward transmission to the United Nations High Command for Refugees.
