Support ‘Let’s make Accra work’ initiative - MCE urges residents
The Adentan Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Mr Daniel Alexander Nii-Noi Adumuah, has urged residents of the municipality to support the ‘Let’s make Accra work’ initiative.
He said the project sought to restore the image of Accra by strengthening environmental sanitation management and highlighting the role of community members in ensuring a safe environment.
Speaking at a durbar to commemorate the 2021 Tema Homowo Festival, Mr Adumuah appealed to the people to cultivate the attitude of cleaning and protecting the environment for their own well-being.
“We all hope that Accra will do well, but that will depend on us. When you are cleaning your houses, remember that the gutters in front of those houses are part of the places you have to clean,” he added.
He expressed concern about how some community members could dispose of rubbish in the communities in which they lived.
“Sometimes we go round and see huge piles of refuse and we ask if someone had brought them from somewhere or we ourselves had dumped them there,” he said.
He said the lack of discipline had contributed to the increasing poor sanitation and environmental issues in the country.
The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Mr Henry Quartey, has launched a campaign dubbed: ‘Let’s make Accra work’ — a non-partisan agenda focused on ensuring the socio-economic development of the region.
