GCB Bank PLC pays courtesy call on Chief Imam

A delegation from the GCB Bank PLC has paid a courtesy call on the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, to formally introduce the bank’s new Managing Director (MD), Farihan Alhassan.

The delegation included the Deputy Managing Director of Operations, Emmanuel Odartey Lamptey; Executive Head of Retail Banking, Sina Kamagate; Head of Human Resources, Kwabena Yeboah, and other staff.

The purpose of the visit was also to seek the blessings of the National Chief Imam for the new MD as well as ask for strength and good health for the leadership of the bank.

The courtesy call also offered the team the opportunity to present some food items to the Chief Imam towards the Ramadan celebration, which is 10 days away.

The items included 20 bags of rice, five bags of sugar, 10 cartons of Milo, five cartons of tea bags and five gallons of vegetable oil.

Visit

Speaking during the visit in Accra yesterday, Mr Alhassan said the visit was to foster goodwill and highlight the bank’s unwavering commitment to supporting the Chief Imam and the Muslim community.

He acknowledged the key role the revered religious leader played in fostering unity and development within and outside of the Islamic community.

Mr Alhassan expressed the belief that the National Chief Imam’s prayers for them during a previous visit had resulted in his appointment as the new MD of the GCB Bank.

“When we visited 10 months ago, the Chief Imam prayed for us that next year, by this time, one of our members would emerge as the Managing Director. So when the announcement was made for my appointment, I was not surprised”.

“Today, I’ve come here to show him that Allah has answered his prayer,” he stated.

Mr Alhassan stressed the importance of gratitude as well as working in unity to take the bank to the next level.

In view of the bank’s mission, the GCB Bank MD said the bank prioritised working as a team to deliver quality financial services to people through teamwork.

“Financial inclusion is important for the bank.

We have over 184 branches across the country, and we ensure that no matter your status in the community, you can have an account with GCB,” he added.

Sheikh Sharubutu congratulated Mr Alhassan on his new role and urged him to lead the bank with integrity, fairness and strong values.

He also thanked the team for donating the food items towards the Ramadan celebration and prayed for the blessings of Allah upon their lives.

“Allah has said those who are thankful to Him are those who will get His abundance.

Therefore, my prayer to Allah is that he increases you, helps you, advances your cause, strengthens your new assignment and may he unite your minds,” he said.
