Ejura violence: Bear medical bills of victims – MP tells gov’t
The Member of Parliament for the Ejura-Sekyedumase, Bawa Mohammed Bremah has called on the government to pay the medical bills of injured victims of the Ejura shooting.
He also called on the government to compensate the victims, adding that the injured victims have been abandoned by the government as the focus is rather on the dead.

The MP made the call after visiting some of those who were injured during the disturbances.
“I am really very sad. I am very disappointed in the regional Security Council, especially the regional minister Honour Samuel Osei Mensah….Per the narration of the minster he said he deployed the soldiers, if he deployed the soldiers and the fallout was that there were casualties, you only take care of the beds, and then you send delegations upon delegations visit the homes of those who are dead not thinking about those who got injured”, he stated.
Meanwhile, doctors at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital have amputated the right leg of one of the four persons who sustained gunshots in Tuesday’s June 29, 2021 disturbances at Ejura in the Ashanti Region.
The 16-year old boy, Awal Misbawu, and the others sustained gunshot wounds while two persons died when some soldiers opened fire on protesters in Ejura.
Master Misbawu was initially sent to the St. John of God Hospital at Duayaw-Nkwanta and later referred to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.
Speaking on Accra-based radio station, Citi FM, the mother of Misbawu, Madam Stalemate Mohammed said he was amputated on Saturday, July 3, 2021.
“So the child was crying so painfully and we had to call on our chief who in turn also called a doctor for us and the child was admitted. So he [Doctor] informed us that the leg cannot be worked on so he has to be amputated. So that has been done and my son is in pain right now.”
In a related development, the three-member committee to inquire into the sequence of events, crowd rioting, and crowd control methods used by security personnel in Ejura in the Ashanti Region will commence work today Monday, July 5, 2021.
The members of the committee made up of Justice of the Court of Appeal, Justice George Kingsley Koomson as the Chairman of the committee, Security Analyst, Dr. Vladimir Antwi-Danso, and the Executive Director of Penplusbytes, Juliet Amoah have 10 days as a deadline set by President Akufo-Addo.
The committee is expected to submit its report to the government at the end of its work.
