2 arrested for dealing in fake DV plates

A 47-year-old car dealer, Osei Kwadwo and his 23-year old cobbler accomplice, Halidu Issah are in the grip of the police for dealing in fake vehicle trade plates (DV plates) and logbooks.

The suspects were arrested on Monday, January 14, 2019 following a tip off that some unscrupulous people were dealing in the fake plates and logbooks at one Osei Boateng’s Garage near the Bekwai Roundabout.

Briefing the media, the Ashanti Regional Public Relations Officer of the Police, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Mr Godwin Ahianyo said following the tip off, the police dispatched a team to the garage where they met Osei Kwadwo.

He said a search on the premises revealed 24 DV plates and logbooks and some insurance stickers.

He said during interrogation, Osei mentioned one Halidu Issah, a cobbler as his source of supply and led the police to effect his arrest.

According to him, a check run by the Drivers and Vehicles Licensing Authority (DVLA) revealed that the DV number plates were fake.
