Mr Kese-Amankwa said he was always touched with the plight of the vulnerable who sometimes found it difficult to eat a square meal a day, even during festive occasions such as Easter.

He noted that helping the poor and vulnerable had therefore become his passion and something he did for pleasure.

Mr Kese-Amankwa said he was still paying the school fees of some orphans and the underprivileged from Abofour and beyond which he started way before he became a municipal chief executive. "I am still paying fees of those in that category in the first and second cycle schools,” he said, adding that "we must all use part of our resources to help the helpless, the underprivileged, the disadvantaged, orphans, widows and the aged."

The former MCE also called on all Ghanaians to show selflessness, voluntarism, patriotism and self-discipline in all their endeavours.

Good example

The Abontendomhene of Abofour, Nana Kwabena Darko, who chaired the function, commended Mr Kese-Amankwa for single-handedly organising the Easter party for orphans and the aged in the Abofour community.

He stressed that such community spiritedness he exhibited needed to be emulated by the citizens of the area.

Nana Abontendomhene also called on people in the area to assist in the development of the town.

The Parish Priest of St. Francis Catholic Church at Abofour, Rev. Father Peter Sarpong, led the gathering to say prayers for the entire country and also urged all to use Christian festivities such as Easter to unite.
