Former BOST boss donates vehicles to 3 Police commands

The immediate past Managing Director of the Bulk Oil Storage and Transport Company (BOST), Mr Alfred Obeng Boateng, has presented three brand new Nissan pick-ups, valued at GH¢525,000, to three police commands in the Sefwi area of the Western Region.

The beneficiary commands are Bibiani, Sefwi Bekwai and Sefwi Wiawso.

Presenting the vehicles in Sefwi Bekwai last Monday, December 31, 2018, Mr Boateng, who is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Approachers Group of Companies, said the vehicles were meant to enhance the work of the police in the districts.

He disclosed that the commanders of those districts had asked him to help provide vehicles to enhance the delivery of police services to the communities, adding that “this gesture is for the safety and security of the inhabitants”.

Mr Boateng, who is also the Patron of Friends of Approachers, a youth empowerment organisation in the Sefwi area, where he comes from, said the organisation had, earlier last year, donated a 110 KVA generator to the Bibiani Government Hospital.

Giving back to society

Mr Boateng said one of the means to show appreciation to God was to give back to society, adding that although the government was responsible for the provision of development projects in the communities, sometimes budgetary constraints worked against the realisation of such projects.

He emphasised that the vehicles were a huge investment and, therefore, the users must take good care of  them.

Referendum

Mr Boateng commended the people of the area for voting massively for the creation of the Western North Region in the referendum.

“We have almost got our new region to save us from travelling many hours to transact official business in the regional offices,” he said.

“I am also personally glad that the huge investment I made by procuring a brand new pick-up for the Western North Secretariat to enhance the  discharge of its activities has been fruitful,” he added.

Commendation

The Manwerehene of the Sefwi Anhwiaso Traditional Area, Nana Kofi Affi II, commended Mr Boateng for his tremendous contribution to the development of the Sefwi area and urged other citizens to emulate his example.

The Sefwi Wiawso Divisional Commander, Chief Supt Francis Ennor, received the vehicle on behalf of his command, while the Divisional Commander for Bibiani, Chief Supt John Osei Bonsu, received two of the vehicles on behalf of the Sefwi Bekwai and the Bibiani commands.
