The items included, wheelbarrows, 21-inch LG television sets, wellington boots, knapsack sprayers, aluminium basins, wire mesh and bags of locally produced rice.

Mr John Awuni, Corporate Affairs Director of Fintrade Group, who presented the items, said Finatrade was committed to promoting farming and agro-business in the country.

According to him, the celebration of Farmers Day is a special occasion since it enables the ordinary Ghanaian farmer to feel he or she is being appreciated.

He said the FINATRADE Group would continue to support and provide markets to farmers. Mr Awuni said as a way of encouraging Ghanaian farmers to produce more local rice, the company had invested in its own brand of local rice, "The Pride", and has urged its distributors to vigorously sell it to consumers.

"Our Pride rice is currently doing well on the market and this is a firm indication that with the appropriate support, Ghana will soon become a next exporter of rice,” he said.

The Director of Food and Agriculture at the La Nkwantanang- Madina Municipal Assembly, Nii Adsete Kumah, who received the items on behalf of the Municipal Chief Executive, thanked Finatrade for their continuous support to farming in the country and urged other corporate bodies to emulate their example.
