A typical example, he said, was the Air Forces’ discovery of the activities of illegal small-scale miners in remote areas of the country.

The Vice-President said this when a group of Air Chiefs from over 10 African countries and the United States Air Force paid a courtesy call on him at the Flagstaff House in Accra last Wednesday.

He expressed the government’s commitment to resource the Ghana Air Force in order to strengthen its intelligence and surveillance capabilities for it to respond to threats and meet the needs of the people.

Mr Amissah-Arthur urged the Air Chiefs to explore collaborative ways of sharing intelligence and resources for the benefit of their respective countries.

The Air Chiefs are attending the third Regional Air Chiefs Conference in Accra. The theme for the three-day meeting is centered on the use of air power in warfare.

The conference will look at ways to confront terrorism, insurgency and security challenges on the continent, as well as develop strategies for promoting peace and stability in Africa.
