The donation is aimed at helping to manage the current cases of meningitis which has left about 50 people dead in its trail.

Receiving the drugs, the Minister of Health, Mr Alex Segbefia, commended the company for the support and said the donation was timely as the drugs were needed urgently to help save the lives of affected people.

Mr Sebgefia said the MoH, together with the Ghana Health Service (GHS), was doing everything possible to ensure that the disease was brought under control.

He encouraged other companies to come to the aid of the affected persons to ensure that they get prompt treatment.

Mr Segbefia last Thursday in a presentation to the Health Committee of Parliament, said so far about 50 deaths had been recorded out of the 246 cases reported in the Brong Ahafo, Ashanti, Upper West and Upper East regions.

A Manager at Ernest Chemists, Mr Richmond Nkansah Mensah, who presented the drugs, said the company was moved by the plight of people who had been affected by the disease.
