‘Double track’ teacher applicants to write aptitude test Friday Sept 28

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced that persons who applied for teaching appointment online would have to write an aptitude test on Friday, September 28, 2018.

A statement dated September 21, 2018, signed and issued by Cassandra Twum Ampofo, Head of Public Relations at the GES said areas to be covered for the aptitude test are English, Quantitative, Supervisory Judgement and logical reasoning.

The GES has consequently advised applicants to visit www.gespromotions.gov.gh to access their examination details.

“An exams fee of Gh¢40 must be made on the same website by clicking on the examination fees module. All applicants are to take note and act accordingly,” the statement added.

The GES is hoping to recruit about 8,000 graduate teachers for the double track system in senior high schools.

Second cycle schools in Ghana at the beginning of September started a semester module as part of moves to address infrastructural challenges associated with the Free Senior High School programme.

Limited infrastructure in many schools prevented the admission of many qualified students in 2017 when the free SHS system was introduced.

The government therefore decided to introduce the double track system this year to help boost enrolment, reduce class sizes and engage students on a semester basis.

That required the recruitment of more teachers to help make the running of the double system smooth.

The GES then advertised for qualified graduate teachers who had completed their national service to apply for employment.

The aptitude test scheduled for Friday, September 28 is, therefore, to help determine the suitability of the applicants for the advertised positions.
