Dolphin Telecom donates to Ga North Municipal Hospital

ETG Integrated Services Limited (Dolphin), a global communications carrier and operator of the Africa Coast to Europe (ACE) submarine cable system in West Africa, has donated assorted medical equipment and furniture to the maternity ward of the Ga North Municipal Hospital, Ofankor in Greater Accra Region.

The company which operates under the name, Dolphin, embarked on the mission to provide essential medical items and supplies that will allow the recently opened hospital to function efficiently in the discharge of its duties.

The items included a suction machine, patient trolleys, medicine trolley, nurses desks, chairs and refrigerators.

Receiving the items, the Head of the facility, Dr Victor Caesar, said the gesture could not have come at a better time as the hospital faced a number of challenges that made its operations difficult.

“I must say that the staff and the management of the facility and indeed the community as a whole, are much grateful to Dolphin for donating to the maternity unit. We started the 24-hour maternity service last week Monday.

“And so this gesture has come at the right time when we need  a lot of these equipment to work with and so it will go along way in delivering the maternity services to our people in this community.

This is a new facility and as a new facility, there may be challenges so, what we do is as and when they arise we try to solve them out.”

There are actually plans in place to equip this place next year so that is what we are hoping to be done,” Dr Caesar stated.

Commenting on the donation, the HR Officer of the company, Christiana Annan, stated that the gesture was part of the company’s philosophy of being an agent of change in the country and community that it operates within.

“Typically, our areas of focus when it comes to CSR include health, education, water, livelihood improvement, income generation and capacity building.

So these are the five main areas that every year when we declare profits there is a part that we set aside to help the society that we  find ourselves in.

“This is what led to this gesture, and in addition to that Dolphin staff are encouraged to contribute towards its CSR project as part of the company’s culture.

We believe that our support to the Ofankor Maternity Hospital will go a long way to support  the community and its environs.” Mrs Annan added.

Also at the presentation of the items were senior management members of ETG Integrated Services, Osama Elkhidir – Technical Director  and Mrs Doris Somuah Asante- Fin & Admin Manager, Michael Lawal – Sales Manager, Isaac Ayiku – Technical Manager and some Dolphin staff members.
