He mentioned activities such as illegal mining activities, bad environmental sanitation habits and unguarded utterances as some of the acts that were not worthy of a member of the church.

Mr Kyeremeh was speaking during a four-day Territorial Men's Retreat by the Church in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region.

In all, 120 delegates across the country were in attendance.

Sensitisation

Lt Col Kyeremeh commended the government and other stakeholders for the fight against ‘galamsey’ and pledged the church’s readiness to sensitise members and Ghanaians in general to the practice that was fast degrading the environment, including the destruction of water bodies and forest.

“You need to be abreast of the recent negative happenings in the country, particularly the activities of galamsey operators, in order to join the nationwide campaign against illegal mining and environmental safety,” he said.

Mr Kyeremeh also called on members of the church to not allow modernity to destroy their moral fibre and the discipline inculcated in them by the church over the years.

Advice

The Territorial Commander of Salvation Army Church, Colonel Joseph Lukau, also advised Ghanaians, particularly Christians, to dedicate their lives, wealth and time to the service of God and also reach out to the deprived in their respective communities.

He further stressed the need for Christians to join in working towards the socio-economic development of the country for the betterment of all.
