They face a charge of escaping from lawful custody after a group of young men believed to be their colleagues in the Delta Force stormed the court to free them following a two-week remand slapped on them by the court.

The 13 are Kojo Fosu Bamba aka Kojo Bamba, Awal Sadat Abubakar, Abubakar Sadiq Abuhammed, Jamil Issa, Hamza Mohammed, Salu Issahak, Akwasi Owusu, Kwabena Owusu, Kofi Kyei, Eggya Boadi, Salu Yussif, Yussif Salu and Kwaku Awortwe.

The Ashanti Regional Head of Judicial Police (JUPOL), Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), Mr Okyere Darko told Graphic Online in an interview that though the 13 were in custody serving the two-week remand in prison custody, they would be arraigned before a different court for the new charge.

Before their escape and eventual return to custody, the 13 faced charges of a conspiracy to commit crime, assault on a public officer, causing unlawful damage and preventing a public officer from performing his lawful duties.

He said the 13 were part of 21 members of the Delta Force group who were picked by the police after they led their group to attack the Ashanti Regional National Security Liaison Officer, Mr George Agyei.
