Christian Children Fund constructs clinic for Kanvilli

The Christian Children Fund of Canada (CCFC), a Canadian charity organisation, in conjunction with Markaz Al Bishara, a Tamale-based charity organisation, has constructed a clinic for the people of Kanvilli in Tamale.

The clinic, which cost GH¢42, 000.00, would allow many people from the area to have access to health care without having to travel to any of the three hospitals in the metropolis to seek treatment for minor illnesses.

Speaking during the handover of the clinic, the Vice-president of CCFC in charge of Global Operations ,Mr Jim Carrie, said CCFC believed in the adage that the health of a nation is its wealth, hence the commitment of his organisation to promoting health care delivery in all its operational areas.

He said getting communities and nations to be healthy had been part of the United Nations’ Development Goals and “CCFC supports it and has incorporated it in all programmed activities in communities in which we operate.”

“This is important for us as a child-centred organisation to help children, not just in reducing deaths, but in improving their quality of life,” he added.

He also said he was very impressed during his visits to many of the CCFC projects, and hinted of a possible extension of the intervention by CCFC, Canada in Ghana, after the present six-year strategic programme being implemented expired.

The Director of Markaz Al Bishara, Reverend Johnson Asare, said his organisation had been working to alleviate the plight of the underprivileged and the vulnerable in society.

He expressed appreciation to CCFC for partnering them by providing funds for construction of the clinic.

The Sagnarigu District Director of Health Services, Madam Gertrude Yentumi, said nurses and other professionals were ready to commence work at the clinic after it had been handed over.

She also said the clinic would promote health service accessibility to the people of Kanvilli and improve their lives.

The District Chief Executive for Sagnarigu, Mr Alhassan M. Sorudow, pledged his commitment and that of the district assembly to ensure that the clinic functioned effectively.

He added that every equipment that would be needed to enhance the smooth running of the project would be provided.
