Patrons at the concert, which also marked the 69th birthday of the late President Mills, were treated to melodious tunes from singing groups including the Rehoboth Temple Choir, the Dansoman Youth and the Winneba Youth choirs.

President Mills died at the 37 Military Hospital in Accra on July 24, 2012, three days after marking his 68th birthday.

The programme was set in motion with a prayer by Rev Steve Wengham of the Assemblies of God Church.

Minister of Youth and Sports, Mr Afriyie Ankrah, led the gathering to observe a minute’s prayer for the soul of the late President.

Professor Nii Yartey and Professor Atukwei Okai recited poems amid songs and artistic display against a backdrop of pictures of the late president.

Delivering the sermon, the head pastor of the Calvary Baptist Church, Reverend Fred Deegbe, said “you may have all the resources at your disposal, but when the time comes, and the Lord calls you, you have to answer that call whether you are ready or not.

Dwelling his sermon on Acts 13:36 and Ecclesiastics 8:10, he said: “Life is full of choices, and the ones you make, whether good or bad, would be what you would be remembered for.”
