Nii Laryea Agbo, who is also the Member of Parliament for the Kpone-Katamansu Constituency, was presented to the members of the council and the people of Nungua at a ceremony held at the Nungua Palace.

His induction was performed by the President of the Nungua Traditional Council, Professor Odaifio Welentsi III.

Nii Agbo was, in June this year, nominated and introduced by the Head of the Adwinwe Family of Katamansu, Mr Joseph Odai Laryea, to assist in playing the caretaker role following the incapacitation of his father, Nii Otu Akwate IX, who is the substantive Chief of Katamansu.

As caretaker chief, he is only expected to perform administrative functions and not to hold himself as the substantive chief of the people.

Also as caretaker chief, his name will not be gazetted but he will only represent the Katamansu Divisional Council at the Nungua Traditional Council.

The Nungua Traditional Council is the Paramountcy covering Nungua, Katamansu, Santo and Oyibi divisional councils.

Ceremony

Speaking to the gathering at the induction ceremony, Prof. Welentsi III welcomed Nii Agbo into the council, saying that “it is good news that Katamansu has come to resume its seat after it had been left unoccupied for nine years”.

He said he had no doubt  that  Nii Agbo would provide excellent leadership to his people and also contribute towards the development of the council.

Prof. Welentsi III stressed the need for Nii Agbo to work with all parties to ensure that issues that would hinder the development agenda of Katamansu were addressed.

“You must be willing to bring your people on board to assist in providing quality leadership that will transform the area,” he added.

Ready to work

In his remarks, Nii Agbo thanked Prof. Welentsi III and gave an assurance that he would give his best to support his people and the council.

He said he was ready to work with everybody to address issues that affected the development agenda of the people of Katamansu.

An issue Nii Laryea Agbo mentioned was land dispute, which he promised to address peacefully.

He also promised to form a council which would work to resolve conflicts and other issues in the community.
