The Cape Coast Municipality will bubble with action next week when the much anticipated National Inter Regional Sports Festival hits Cape Coast next Wednesday.
The nine-day festival, organised for second cycle schools, will see the various regions converging on the Cape Coast municipality between August 16 and 24 to fight for honours.
Besides football, disciplines such as hockey, table tennis, volleyball, handball, and athletics will be fiercely contested for as part of the sports festival.
A source from the Ghana Education Service (GES) told the Daily Graphic that the event was designed to unearth talents in the various disciplines.
The source said the festival, organised by the GES, would also be used to select players and athletes with the requisite potential and develop them for future international tournaments.
He said just like the 29th edition held in the Wa Municipality in the Upper West Region last year, the 30th edition in Cape Coast would be very competitive.
“The various regions have prepared very well in their respective disciplines for the 30th edition of the Cape Coast inter-regional sports festival, so we anticipate it to generate keen interest among sports fans due to its competitive nature,” he noted.
