CalBank donates to the Covid-19 Trust Fund
CalBank has donated GH¢200,000 to the Covid-19 National Trust Fund at the Jubilee House. The amount was aimed at supporting the needy in society especially during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The bank says this is an additional gesture to an earlier contribution of GH¢10 million presented by the Ghana Association of Bankers in a collective effort to deal with the impact of the coronavirus pandemic.

Presenting the cheque, Mr. Philip Owiredu, Managing Director of the bank said it is the belief of the bank that as a society, Ghana can move forward together and that no one entity can move forward unless we do so together.
He further said that the bank was ready to partner the government of Ghana by presenting the token of GH¢200,000 to support the procurement of the required medical supplies to aid in combating this pandemic.
“As we work together to combat this pandemic, which is impacting our livelihood, lifestyles, businesses and disrupting economic activities, it is important that we continue to fight forward together by supporting each other”, he said.
Receiving the cheque at the short ceremony, Mrs Sophia Akuffo, Chairperson of the Covid-19 Trust Fund expressed her profound appreciation to CalBank and assured management of the bank that the funds received would be used judiciously to aid the fight against the coronavirus pandemic.
She further said that by the end of this week, disbursement would be made to beneficiaries.
Mr. Owiredu also reiterated that to prevent potential cross contamination of Covid-19 incidence, management has reviewed aspects of its operations to safeguard the lives of customers and staff of CalBank.
“The bank has increased transaction limits and waived some charges on our digital channels”, he said, adding that the bank had also deferred loan repayments for certain categories of its clientele.
Mr Owiredu also encouraged Ghanaians to adhere to the safety protocols of practicing social distancing, washing of hands frequently with soap under running water or using alcohol based hand sanitizers and keep using the CalBank app for banking transactions.
He commended President Nana Akufo-Addo for establishing the Covid-19 Trust Fund to solicit financial support from the public in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic.
