Adulterated petroleum products flood market

The Financial Director at National Petroleum  Authority, Mr Daniel Addo, has stated that a recent research conducted by the authority showed a disturbing trend of increase in large quantities of adulterated petroleum products on the Ghanaian market.

To halt the problem, the authority has embarked on a nationwide campaign to educate consumers and also flush out miscreants who indulge in such nefarious activities.

Speaking at the 82nd Founders Day celebration of the Accra Academy Senoir High School in Accra last Friday, Mr Addo cautioned consumers to be wary of adulterators who diluted the petroleum products for their selfish ends, thus preventing consumers from enjoying the benefits of the products.

He also noted that the petroleum sector contributed to the reduction in unemployment in the country but needed to be expanded to create more jobs for the youth.

Mr Addo mentioned downstream and midstream adulteration of petroleum products as some of the challenges which needed to be addressed urgently.

He entreated the students to emulate the founders of the school in order be effective and efficient in life.

The Head of Heads of Assisted Second Cycle Institutions (CHASS), Mr Ofori  Agye, urged the management and staff of Accra Academy not to forget the sacrifices made by the founders of the school but to work hard in order to be able to contribute their quote to the development of the country.

The school was established in 1931. It relocated to its present place in the year 1962.

An outgoing and incoming members of the board of directors of the school, Messrs Victor Quao and Nortey, expressed their gratitude for the opportunity offered them to serve on the board of the school and promised to work towards the realisation of the school’s vision.

The Head of the  Business Department of the school, Ms  Ama Boi, said they were poised and determined to work hard to ensure that the school attained greater heights.
