Adabraka girls educated on menstrual hygiene

The queen mother of Adabraka, Naa Korkor Aadizeoyi I has advised females of the Boundary Road Cluster of schools in Adabraka in Accra to abstain from sexual activities in order to prevent teenage pregnancy.

She said that if they engage in sexual activities, not only could they get pregnant, they could also get infected with sexually transmitted diseases which could jeopardise their life and future ambitions.

"I want you to know that, each and everyone of you girls have great potentials. You can achieve your dreams when you take your education seriously."

"However, if you engage in sexual activities, you would get pregnant and that would prevent you from achieving your dreams", she said.

She also admonished the girls to practice good personal hygiene, more especially during menstruation by changing their pad frequently, bath at least twice a day and wear clean clothes.

Naa Korkor Aadizeoyi I, said this during a visit to the school to commemorate the menstrual hygiene day on May 28, 2019.

As part of the menstrual hygiene day celebration, nurses from the Adabraka Polyclinic educated the girls on what to do during menstruation.

They were also taught how to wear the pad appropriately.

The girls also had the opportunity to share their experiences and worries with the nurses.

The queen mother after an interaction with the girls, encouraged the final year students to study hard so they could excel in their Basic Education Certificate Examination (B.E.C.E).
