4 MDCEs injured in accident on Tamale - Kintampo highway

Four Municipal and District Chief Executives (MDCEs) in the Northern Region have been involved in a life-threatening motor accident on the Tamale-Kintampo highway on Monday morning.

The victims who are said to be in critical conditions are on admission at the Tamale Teaching Hospital (TTH).

They are the Gushegu Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Mr. Issah Musah, the Nanumba North (Bimbilla) MCE, Abdulai Yaqoob , Mion District Chief Executive (DCE), Mohammed Abdallah Hashmin and Zabzugu DCE , Ahmed Iddrisu.

They (MDCEs) were in one vehicle in a convoy traveling to Wa, the Upper West Regional capital to join President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo -Addo to launch the Rearing for Food and Jobs flagship programme.

The Public Relations Officer of the Northern Regional Police Command, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Mr. Mohammed Yusif Tanko who confirmed the accident to Graphic Online said the accident happened after the Datoyili police checkpoint on the Tamale-Kintampo highway.

He said all the four MDCEs are on admission at the TTH.

He said a Benz bus travelling from the opposite direction of the road from Accra to Tamale collided with the vehicle in which the four MDCEs were travelling in.
