President concludes third phase of ECOWAS tour

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo last Tuesday ended the third phase of his tour of ECOWAS countries with a day’s working visit to the Republic of Niger.

At a meeting with the Nigerien President, Mr Issoufou Mahamadou, the two leaders pledged to strengthen the ties of co-operation that existed between their countries.

KOICA provides $9m for health delivery in U/East Region

The Korea International Co-operation Agency (KOICA) is to support the Ghana Health Service with $9 million to improve Community-Based Primary Health Care in the Upper East Region.

Army deploys troops to Denkyira-Obuasi over lynching of Captain

The Ghana Armed Forces has deployed a high powered fact-finding team, led by the Chief of Army Staff to Denkyira-Obuasi in the Central Region as part of investigations following the lynching of a Captain in charge of the area by locals.

The Melcom Group, Ghana’s leading retail outlet, recently participated in the 121st session of the China Import and Export Fair in Canton Fair Complex in Guangdong, China, which saw foreign traders and exhibitors from across the world attending.

A statement from the Deputy Director General of the China Foreign Trade Centre, Mr Xu Bing, described the event as successful and indicated that the National Commerce system had implemented series of trade policies and documents by the Party Central Committee and the State Council.

3 Kumasi notorious robbers arrested

The Ashanti Regional Police Command has arrested three armed robbers said to have been robbing and terrorising residents of Aputuogya and its surroundings areas in the Bosomtwe District.

The three, Muhammed Sulley, Abubakar Siddick Awudu and Ibrahim Issah had in their possession, a container full of acid, a locally manufactured pistol, two live cartridges, ten tablets of Tramadol, two knives and two tricycle ignitions keys.

Vehicle owners to pay mandatory ‘towing fee” beginning July this year

Effective July 1 this year, vehicle owners will be required to pay a mandatory road safety fee each time they go to the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) to renew their road worthy certificate.

This is meant to help promote safety by way of providing a reliable towing service such that when vehicles break down, the National Road Safety Commission (NRSC) can ensure that they are swiftly towed to help prevent crashes into stationary vehicles as well as help proven oil from leaking onto roads to destroy them.

Tema motorway cyclist killed after vehicle veered off road

A 34 year old man identified only as Dauda was killed Monday afternoon on the Tema Motorway while riding a bicycle along the shoulders the road.

The deceased was said to have been knocked down and dragged by a Toyota Camry vehicle with registration number GN 1744-16 which was trying to avoid running into a Nissan pickup with registration number GN 3558-10 which burst a front tyre.

A total of seven people were on Monday arrested by the police in relation to the disturbances at Somanya in the Eastern region.

Aside that, three people were injured during the clash.

Kumasi High Court judge burgled

A High Court Judge in Kumasi was on Saturday night attacked by suspected robbers at his residence.

The incident brings the number of such attacks to three in three months, according to the Ashanti Regional administrator of the Judicial Service Association of Ghana, Nowell Francis. who confirmed the incident to Accra based radio station, Class News.
