Two universities sign MoU to run post-graduate programmes

The Ghana Baptist University College at Amakom in Kumasi has entered into a partnership with Sumy State University, Ukraine, to run a number of post-graduate programmes.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that was signed to seal the partnership permits students of the university to pursue PhD programmes either partly or fully in Ukraine.

Already, the university runs a number of post-graduate programmes locally, including Master’s in Business Administration and General Management, accredited to the University of Cape Coast (UCC).

Under the MoU, the Ukrainian University will facilitate the admission process for qualified students, as well connect those who qualified to benefit from scholarship facilities.

Competition

The President of the Ghana Baptist University College, Rev. Dr Paul Adu-Gyamfi, said the demands in current job market made it imperative for students to pursue higher degrees to withstand competition on the job market.

He said there was a cultural revolution in academia which called for collaboration with other universities to build capacities and produce the best labour force for the job market, pointing out that it was time for Ghanian students to position themselves strategically to remain relevant.

A representative of Sumy State University, Ms Tetyanna Mayboroda, said the relationship was aimed at benefitting both countries.
She pointed out that the Baptist University authorities would run various programmes to help in transforming the economies in both countries.
