St Louis past students to build dining hall for alma mater
The 94/96 year group of the St Louis Senior High School Past Students Association (SLOPSA) is constructing a 1,000 seater dining hall for the school in commemoration of its 25th homecoming anniversary.
A sodcutting event for construction of the edifice, estimated to cost GH¢300,000, took place in September last year.

The theme for the homecoming gettogether scheduled for June 21 to June 23 is, “Celebrating our Past and Preparing for Future Challenges.”
At a ceremony to launch the reunion in Accra, the President of the 94/96 group, Ms Eunice Amoo-Mensah, said June this year marked 25 years of completing St Louis as O’level graduates and as such they deemed it necessary to surrender some of their benefits to the school.
She said the decision to construct a dining hall was arrived at following a needs assessment and consultations with the school’s management, which brought up the subject of increase in the student population.
“We are appealing to all past students of our dear alma mater and to all well-wishers who have the interest of girl-child education at heart to help us raise funds to complete the dining hall project,” she said.
Activities
Activities lined up for the homecoming event include, a mentoring session with past students in various professions, entertainment night, a durbar and a thanksgiving Catholic Mass to climax the celebrations.
The Chairperson for the launch, Ms Lydia Lariba Bawa, said the school had produced excellent human capital for the nation, and therefore urged all past students to endeavour to contribute in whatever way they could to the just cause and also as means of helping St Louis to continue to improve on its academic laurels.
“The school is our pride. It nurtured us. We should leave footprints to show that we were there and will continue to help make the school great,” she said.
The Global President of SLOPSA, Ms Julian Bruce, urged various year groups not to only show interest in the school during anniversaries and homecoming events but also have permanent relationships with SLOPSA and St Louis.
“This should not be the end. It should mark the beginning of a renewed relationship with your alma mater and you should not just disappear afterwards,” she said.
