Northeastern University's Global Leadership Summit makes its way to Africa for the first time

Northeastern University's Global Leadership Summit, a renowned and dynamic summit of thought leadership, is coming to Ghana, Africa, for the first time.

The Global Leadership Summit brings together Northeastern students, alumni, parents and leaders from around the world.

The Summit will explore issues ranging from business to sustainability to culture to entrepreneurship in a region that is meaningful to the Northeastern community.

Accra, Ghana, is the location of the fourth annual event; previous summits were held in Paris, Shanghai and Mumbai.

The summit runs from the 8th to the 11th of March 2023,with the speaking programme and discussion taking place at the Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City.

Hosted by Joseph E. Aoun, president of Northeastern University, the event welcomes a wide array of esteemed speakers and guests including Virginia E. Palmer (US Ambassador to Ghana), Alima Bello (Creative Director and Owner of Bello Edu and fashion entrepreneur), Sipho Dlamini (CEO of Universal Music South Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa), Manifest (Musician/Creator), Kofi Kinaata (Ghanaian musician and songwriter) and Sheikh Joe (Executive Director at Standard Chartered Bank), Sam Immanuel (CEO of Semicolon Africa) and Kwame Agyapong Oppong (Chief FinTech Officer at Bank of Ghana). Expected guests also include H. E. Grace Jeanet Mason (South African High Commissioner to Ghana and Sierra Leone), Mansa Nette (CEO at Standard Chartered Bank Ghana PLC and President of Ghana Association of Banks).

The programme is devoted to empowering participants to share experiences, create connections and collaborate on different ways to impact the world.

Commencing on the 8th of March, 2023, the Global Leadership Summit will include a cultural exploration of Accra, including visiting museums, local artists and markets.

The 10th of March will be an interactive session on a wide range of topics from business, sustainability to culture.

Panel discussions will include The Transformative Art of Creativity and Culture, Is Africa Ready For The Fourth Industrial Revolution? and Captains of Industry.

The programme will also feature Women Who Empower: A Journey of Passion and Purpose, with remarks from Elsie Addo Awadzi, Deputy Governor, Bank ot Ghana.

The panels will feature business and civic leaders from industry and government.

The day of the speaking programme will be followed by an immersion of cultures in Cape Coast, including historical site visits and discussions on global communities and economies.

The programme will fully conclude on the 12th of March with a morning programme for the university's Young Global Leaders and invited guests. The event will also celebrate Northeastern's new fundraising campaign: Experience Powered by Northeastern.
