Moree SHS to be renamed after Amissah-Arthur
The Moree Senior High School in the Central Region is to be renamed after former Vice-President Kwesi Bekoe Amissah-Arthur to immortalise his memory.

The decision by the government to rename the school after the former Vice-President is in response to a request by his family to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to honour the memory of their late relative.
The Vice-President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, made this known in a tribute he read on behalf of the government at a state funeral for the former Vice-President at the Accra International Conference Centre in Accra yesterday.
The former Vice-President died on Friday, June 29,
Achievements
Dr Bawumia described the former Vice-President as having “a soothing balm in the tempestuous waters of Ghanaian adversarial politics.”
He said Amissah-Arthur imprinted his mark on the Ghanaian political landscape in a manner that required telling for another generation and that Ghanaians would continue to hold him out as the ideal politician.

The Vice-President traced Amissah-Arthur’s working career from the Economics Department of the University of Ghana, Anambra State College of Education, the World Bank, Ministry of Finance, Bank of Ghana to the time when he was elected as Vice-President.
According to him, the former Vice-President worked in different capacities with humour, cheerfulness, humility and assertiveness, adding that the people of Ghana were grateful to him for his service in the most important positions he held in the country.
“We are grateful God brought you our way. May the Almighty God look favourably upon your soul,” he added.
He stated that the former Vice-President loved life and died doing what under normal circumstances was meant to guarantee him a healthy life.
Good Christian
Vice-President Bawumia described the late statesman as a good Christian who attended the Calvary Methodist Church in Adabraka regularly and was just not a Christian in name but lived a Christ-like life.
The image that Ghanaians had about the former Vice-President, Dr Bawumia said, was that of one who never believed in vengeance but was ready to turn the other cheek when he was slapped and called on Ghanaians to emulate such character traits.
“The memory of Amissah-Arthur should spur us on to love one another, to forgive one another, to embrace one another and to fight for the nation. This we must do to make the life that he lived worth its while,” he added.
