Minister inaugurates three projects in Bosomtwe District

The Deputy Minister of Education, Dr Osei Yaw Adutwum, has inaugurated three education projects in the Bosomtwe District: a six-unit classroom and a nursery block for the people of Jachie and a-six unit classroom block at Esreso.

Funded by the GetFund at the cost of GH¢180,000, the Esreso D/A Primary School classroom block has facilities such as headteacher’s office, a library, a store and a staff common room.

The classroom block for the Jachie D/A Primary School was funded by the OPEC fund at the cost of GH¢450,000 and also has facilities such as library and store, among others.

STEM Academy

The nursery school at Jachie, funded by the government at a cost of GH¢300,000, is also to be used for the commencement of the operation of a Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematic Academy (STEM).

The new STEM academy at Jachie is the first out of the expected four in the Bosomtwe District.

At a durbar of the chiefs and people of Jachie prior to the inauguration of the schools in the area, Mr Adutwum said the construction of 70 new kindergartens in parts of the country by the government were geared towards the development of the early grade level education in the country.

The deputy minister mentioned that the government was working to upgrade some dilapidated school buildings in the country to enhance effective teaching and learning in support of the free senior high school programme.

The Deputy Ashanti Regional Minister, Madam Elizabeth Agyemang, emphasised the importance of education in national development and urged parents to take advantages of the government’s free SHS policy educate their children.

She reminded parents to keep eyes on their children and instill discipline in them to make them focus on their studies and also advised the beneficiaries of the projects to develop a good maintenance culture to keep the facilities in good shape

The District Chief Executive for Bosomtwe, Mr Joseph K. Asuming, said the assembly was ready to provide the needed education infrastructure in the various communities to promote the development of education in the district and the country as a whole.

He urged teachers to take advantage of the newly constructed buildings to promote quality delivery of education in the district.

Mr Assuming used the occasion to donate assorted reading books to some schools in the district to inculcate reading in the pupils in schools.
