Addressing the programme which had a parade, choreography display and recitation of poems as highlights among others, the Municipal Director of Education at La Dadekotopon,  Mrs Evelyn Owusu Oduro, said every child was entitled to free education.

She advised parents to be role models and exhibit exemplary lifestyles for their children to emulate; stressing that lack of peace in homes affected the growth and development of the child and added that the right of all children to survival, protection, development and participation should be paramount in all programmes.

Emphasising the rights of the child, Mrs Oduro said parents should also endeavour to provide basic needs, such as shelter, food and clothing, pointing out that children with such opportunities could live and grow in a peaceful environment.

The Chairman of the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA), Mr John Mules Sammah, stressed the need for all stakeholders to contribute their quota to the development of education, and added that the church, teachers and parents in particular, had to come together to help in the moral upbringing of children.

The Headmaster of the school, Nii Kwaku Kwanza, said they would continue to cooperate with parents to instil discipline in the children and urged the pupils to abide by the school’s rules.

The President of the Southern Ghana Union Conference of the SDA Churches, who chaired the function, Pastor Dr Samuel Adama Larmie, said the church was committed to the provision of quality education.

The General Manager of the school, Pastor Isaac Morrison, urged the graduates to pursue higher education to unearth their potentials.

Awards were presented to pupils who distinguished themselves with Master Zafir Kory emerging as the overall best student.
